Salesforce Tower – San Francisco’s tallest building – offers iconic 360 degree views of the Bay Area, 1,070 feet above ground level.
It’s seven feet (2.1m) higher than the Eiffel Tower and as tall as 3.5 Statues of Liberty stacked on top of each other. And on a clear day, you can see for almost 30 miles (48 kms) in any direction.
It’s no wonder San Francisco’s 1,070-foot high (326 m) Salesforce Tower at 415 Mission Street has been the hottest attraction in town for locals and tourists alike since it opened in January 2018.
In fact, the sky high views of the Bay Area are so sought after, that tours to the top have been sold out for more than six months in advance.
From the 61st floor – the highest occupied space in San Francisco – visitors are greeted with sweeping views of the Bay Area.
You can see the nearby Transamerica Building (the city’s former tallest building), Fisherman’s Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headland, the Bay Bridge and Oakland.
On a clear day, you can even see the Farallon Islands around 30 miles (48 kms) west of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Look down at street level, and you’ll have a bird’s eye view of the elevated Salesforce Park – a 5.4-acre, four-block-long rooftop park and botanical garden (pictured below) that has similarities to New York’s famed High Line.
Located atop a colossal white building that snakes its way through the city’s downtown South of Market (SoMA), the park has 600 trees and around 16,000 plants arranged in 13 different botanical areas.
Knitting circles, yoga classes and fitness boot camps are also regular sights in the park.
Underneath is the Transbay Transit Center and bus plaza, with a dedicated ramp to the Bay Bridge that allows buses to bypass streets and the clogged traffic on them.
Pre-Register for Tours
The Ohana Floor (which means ‘family’ in Hawaiian and is a feature of every Salesforce Tower) is a two-story space on the 61st floor with a kitchen, bars, conference rooms, foliage, stylised bathrooms and 360-degree views of the bay area.
The lifts are in the centre of the floor, which gives unobstructed views – when its not shrouded in fog – making it a contender for one of the world’s most Jaw-Dropping Observation Decks.
The space is used by office tenants of a weekday, but one Saturday every month it’s open for public tours between 11am and 6pm.
Tours were fully booked until the end of January 2020. But new tour dates have just been announced and will be released on Wednesday February 5. Pre-register to avoid missing out.
Salesforce Tower Sydney
Salesforce Tower San Francisco is one of 10 towers either built or under construction somewhere in the world bearing the Salesforce name.
The San Francisco cloud software company also has towers in New York, Chicago, London, and soon in Sydney (impressions above).
Salesforce Tower Sydney will open in 2022 between George Street and Pitt Street at Circular Quay.
With northerly views across Sydney Harbour, the 263-metre, 53-storey tower will become the city’s tallest office building – and the second tallest in Australia.
The development will also connect to a three-level gastro pub and rooftop bar on the site where Jacksons on George, a grungy late night drinking hole, once stood.
Did You Know? Salesforce Tower San Francisco is about 200 feet (61 m) taller than the Transamerica Building. There are 1,762 steps from the ground floor to the top of Salesforce Tower San Francisco. It is the second tallest building on America's West Coast, behind the 73-storey Beverly Wilshire Grand Center in Los Angeles.
